FUN JAZZ Jazz is the most popular style of dance for fun students. Planetdance prides itself on being very up to date with the latest styles and trends in the jazz discipline. Our 'commercial jazz' style features age appropriate music straight off the Itunes charts. So come along and learn how to kick, leap, turn and do great choreography to the sounds of Bieber, Britney and Beyonce! We offer Fun Jazz classes on Monday nights for students in Kindy, Year 1 and Year 2 at school.
JFH stands for 'Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop'. This year we will be combining our jazz and hip hop classes for fun students from Year 3 and up. The class starts with a warm up, followed by some jazz progressions and choreography and finishes with the latest Hip Hop moves. This combo class is a great time and cost saver for busy students who love to do it all!!!! Limited spaces per school year apply.
BOYS ONLY HIP HOP (Kindy to Year 2) Boys love to come along on a Monday night in their own half hour class to learn from our super cool hip hop teacher 'J- Rod'. The class consists of the basics of all styles of hip hop including popping, gliding, tutting and even some basic floorwork. This is the class for boys who love to dance just like Usher and Chris Brown.
B-BOYS / B- GIRLS This year we introduce a class for students interested in learning the fundamentals of B-Boy technique and the basics of 'breaking'. These classes are taught by one of the most highly respected B-boy trainers in the industry. Due to the strength and discipline required, these classes suit students in Year 6 and up. Classes will be held on Thursday nights and separated by gender.
FUN TAP Planetdance caters for students who like to learn tap for fun separated from our more advanced students. This allows students to feel comfortable mastering the basics of tap dancing at their own pace. Our studio uses the Tapatak Oz Tap Syllabus created by Christine Denny. This syllabus is recommended by industry leaders such as Matt Lee and Kelley Abbey. Fun students do not sit tap exams but still learn a combination of syllabus work from Tapatak as well as fun combos to current music. We cater for fun students from Kindy to Year 6.
Planetdance teaches the R.A.D. syllabus of ballet, the world's leading organisation in classical ballet education. This syllabus is taught in 79 countries across the world. Our fun ballet students get a chance to experience this ballet syllabus without the strict requirements needed to pursue exams. Any students who excel in this stream may want to transfer to the troupe stream of ballet after they have had a chance to see if they like their fun ballet classes. Come along for lots of fun with feather boas, dancing ribbons and plenty of prettiness!!! Planetdance offers ballet for fun students from Kindy to Year 2. Any students older than this who would like to try ballet for the first time can join our non-exam ballet classes throughout the week. FUN MODERN Fun Modern is a fantastic class for older students who like to work on their flexibility, posture and grace without the strict discipline of ballet. Our modern classes are a combination of lyrical and contemporary dance. This style has become increasingly popular with the success of dance shows like 'So You Think You Can Dance'. Students wear no shoes and are encouraged to express themselves to current popular lyrical music. Fun Modern is available for students from Year 3 to High School.
Planetdance is one of the leading Sydney schools for Musical Theatre. We are proud to boast that we currently have 2 students starring in 'Annie' at Star City and 3 students in 'Love Never Dies' at the Capitol Theatre. Musical Theatre involves learning dialogue and songs from popular musicals and is an excellent class for those who enjoy singing and acting. Students develop confidence and speaking skills through monologue training and have a fantastic time transforming into characters like Sharpay from High school Musical, Link from Hairspray or Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. This class is available for students from Year 3 to High School and is one of our most popular classes at Planetdance.
