The program, explained

What is
Ready Set Ballet?

Ready Set Ballet is a gentle introduction to the foundations of classical ballet for children aged 2–5. Twirl, the program's mascot, guides little dancers through music, mime and imaginative movement. Specially designed songs and lyrical cues help children follow along as they explore coordination, body awareness, strength and flexibility.

Ready Set Ballet is its own preschool class. It offers a focused ballet experience alongside the broader Ready Set Dance combo program.

Inside the class

A story in every step.

Ballet foundations are introduced in ways that make sense to preschoolers: a musical prompt, a story to imagine and a movement to try together.

Music

Specially designed melodies capture the beauty of classical ballet. Musical and lyrical cues help children recognise what comes next and move with the music.

Mime and imagination

Storytelling invites children to express an idea through their faces, hands and bodies, making space for creativity as they dance.

Coordination and strength

Age-appropriate ballet movements develop body awareness, balance, strength and flexibility through visual demonstrations and spoken or sung instructions.

Themed dances

Short, story-based dances invite playful participation. Familiar music prompts help children remember and enjoy a sequence of movements.

Props

Rainbow ribbons, feathers and bubbles add wonder to the class while giving children opportunities to practise tactile awareness, fine motor coordination and control.

Why it matters

Small steps with everyday meaning.

A child balancing in a ballet activity is practising the control they use when stepping carefully or changing direction in play. Following a musical cue gives them a chance to listen and respond. Remembering a short themed dance combines attention, imagination and a sequence of actions in an enjoyable group experience.

Body awareness

Stretching, reaching and balancing help children explore how different parts of their body move together.

Listening and participation

Watching a demonstration and responding to a song gives children practice in following a shared activity.

Imagination and expression

Pretending to float, sway or tell a story through movement lets children communicate ideas without needing words.

Space to find their own confidence.

Our teachers bring a caring, encouraging approach to each class. The focus is on enjoying ballet, becoming comfortable in the group and building foundations step by step. Children can explore the magic of movement while learning at a pace appropriate to their stage.
